Role Purpose
We are currently hiring an Electrician Assistant to support our telecom infrastructure projects. You will work alongside qualified electricians and telecom engineers to assist in the installation, connection, and maintenance of electrical systems powering telecom equipment, including towers, shelters, and base station sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and wiring of electrical components for telecom sites (AC/DC systems, grounding, distribution boards, etc.)
- Support the setup and connection of power to telecom equipment such as BTS, RRUs, and microwave systems.
- Carry tools, materials, and assist with site setup and safety measures.
- Help test circuits, connections, and backup power systems (e.g., batteries, inverters, generators)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work sites.
- Follow instructions from the lead electrician and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and documentation of work performed.
Job Requirements
- Matric plus High school diploma or vocational training in electrical or related field.
- Valid South African driving license will be advantageous.
- Clear criminal record.
HSE Competency Requirements
- Valid occupational medical for driving and working at heights.
- Gravity Fall Arrest and Basic Rescue certification – Required.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and documentation of work performed.
- Ability to work at heights, on rooftops, or remote telecom sites.
- Knowledge of rigging, lifting, and tower safety protocols.
- Competent and/or Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments.
- Physically fit and able to lift equipment and work on-site.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and learn quickly.
