Role Purpose
Corrective Field Maintenance Engineer (FME) is responsible to maintain all mobile network installations to ensure maximum network availability within the allocated FM office (defined geographical area) and/or sub-cluster within an FM office.
Critical Scope Requirements
- A Passive FME with basic skills of battery, AC/DC, Rectifier and wiring. with following detailed requirements.
- Able to use multi-meter.
- Qualified and Competent 3-phases electrician (Trade Tested),
- Qualified and Competent Installations Electrician with DoL valid registration as COC.
- Familiar with all power related equipment on site and related configurations, including but not limited to battery, rectifier, AC/DC, Changeover switch etc.; capable to do electrical installation work, including new installation & repair.
- Matric plus technical tertiary Qualifications (i.e. EE N4-N6, EE S3-S4)
- Valid South African driving license – Code 14/EC or higher.
- Experience / substantial exposure to similar role/ function is required.
Site Access Security Protocols Requirements
- Project Specific Clear and Valid Fingerprint Based Criminal Record results.
- Project Specific Clear and Valid Polygraph Test results.
Minimum HSE Competency Requirements
- Valid occupational medical for driving and working at heights.
- Valid Fall Arrest with Basic Rescue qualification / certification.
- Valid First Aid training.
- Valid Fire Fighting.
- Valid Risk Assessment (Hira)
- Defensive Driving.
- 4X4
- Legal Liability.
Required Experience and Critical Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in role of Telecoms corrective maintenance.
- Competent and/or Confident with the operation of 4x4 Vehicles and offroad terrain.
- Competent and/or Confident with the towing of Mobile Generator and Bouser Trailers.
- Experienced in use of specialized testing equipment (Power meters, RM Power meter etc.)
- Confidently computer literate and able to communicate proficiently in English in written form.
- Knowledge and experience with relevant Telecoms Sector mobile smart phone-based software and communication systems.
